Based in the heart of Hale village, Cheshire, WA14 Fish & Chips brings a modern, ethical twist to a traditional dish, using quality ingredients from the very best suppliers to ensure customers get the perfect chippy tea.

WA14 Fish & Chips opened in May 2018 and is the brainchild of Hale resident and entrepreneur Andrew Clemmet. We are on a mission to raise the standards of what fish and chips could and should be; challenging the perception of the local chippy.

Words From Our Owner

Andrew said; “I always hated paying for fish and chips wrapped up in paper that would end up getting stuck and cold by the time you got home. Someone has had to go out into the Atlantic, no matter the weather, and catch the cod. It’s not cheap and deserves to be served in the best way possible. I want my customers to experience the fish as the fisherman intended – fresh, piping hot and crispy.”

“There hasn’t been a fish and chip shop in Hale for 20 years, and I really wanted to build a new brand that would not only supply the perfect chippy tea, but also service the community and local businesses across the area”.

The shop, situated on Ashley Road, cooks up delights that include Battered Halloumi, Veggie Fries, Sea Bass, Monkfish and Thai Fishcakes with a Sweet Chilli Dressing. With an awareness of the current situation across our oceans, Andrew is also very keen to play his part in helping the environment, using sustainable materials and produce where possible. 

Already popular with the residents of Hale and the surrounding villages, Andrew has high hopes for the brand and aims to deliver WA14 to fish lovers across Greater Manchester. Andrew added: “The last eighteen months have been a total whirlwind, and I have enjoyed every minute. Once I finish climbing this vertical learning curve, I would love to expand and bring my unique approach to the traditional chippy to towns across Greater Manchester and the UK.”
